Welcome to Hot Earth Images by Paul Cole

My name is Paul Cole and I have been a geologist and volcanologist for more than 20 years. My work has involved the study of volcanoes and their associated hazards and risks. Over the years my research has allowed me to travel extensively around the world and I have been lucky enough to visit (and photograph!) some truly beautiful landscapes.

From the age of 14 I have regularly visited and climbed mountains in Britain and Europe, and have fostered a general love of the great outdoors.

Whether I am on a field trip to the volcanoes of Italy; hill walking with friends in Scotland or on holiday with my family, I always make sure I have my camera with me.

I currently live in Montserrat, West Indies with my wife and 3 children, where I am Director of the Volcano Observatory.

This website is an opportunity for me to share some of these photos with you and I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
